Slide Scanning – What type of Slides do you have?

There are many types of Slide transparencies dating back to 1907. Slides are reversal film shot to create a positive image which allowed photographers to project their image to a large audience. Many of the early slides were hand mounted into different types of frames including cardboard and even glass. 35mm film for the still camera (kodachrome ) was introduced in 1936 by the Eastman Kodak Company. Reversal film yields high resolution and contrast and was often the preferred choice for professional photographers who intended on displaying their work in the print media.

Below you will see just about all types of mounted slides including the most common 35mm Kodachrome and 126 Ektachrome to the rare half frame kodachrome and stereo slide. Audio Video Workshop can scan any type of Slide to a digital file such as a JPEG or TIFF. We scan slides using the specialized Nikon (cool-scan) slide scanners. The Nikon’s yields the best possible transfer at 4000dpi and offers Digital Ice enhancement. Digital Ice corrects for not only the color of the slide but the brightness and contrast as well. In addition, digital ice also reduces the film grain effect which becomes apparent at very high resolutions.
