We scan your photos at 300dpi or 600dpi. Typically, we scan into high quality JPEG files due to their efficiency. However, we can scan your photos into TIFF files if you prefer. We also offer photo restoration, slide scanning, negative scanning and photos to DVD (photo montage). 300 dpi – 300 dpi (ppi) is great for on-screen viewing, archiving and making prints of photos at their original size

600 dpi – 600 dpi (ppi) is great for archiving your photos and is extremely important if you plan on zooming in or making prints larger than the original

Economy vs. Enhanced Scan

Both Services include dust removal and are done using the same high quality scanning equipment. Both yield high quality scanned images.

Economy – The economy service is basically a RAW scan  is great for those who have the time, software, and knowledge to enhance the images themselves.

• De-skewing (image leveling)

How should I prepare my photos for scanning?

Please take them out of any albums and stack them in the order you would like them scanned. If you would like them organized into folders. You can put each category in a separate ziplock bag with a label / note inside. Another way to organize your photos is to put them into a shoe box with sticky notes dividing and labeling the categories. We put the new Digital Images (JPEGs) on a USB device. We sell USB Flash Drives for $19 but you are welcome to bring your own.

San Carlos, CA Info:

San Carlos is a city in San Mateo County, California on the San Francisco Peninsula, about halfway between San Francisco and San Jose. It is a small affluent residential suburb located between Belmont to the north and Redwood City to the south. San Carlos, “The City of Good Living”, aims for a “small town” feel. Its main downtown area is composed mostly of small shops and restaurants. During World War II, not long after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the American Kennel Club and a new group calling itself “Dogs for Defense” mobilized dog owners across the country to donate quality animals to the Quartermaster Corps. Dogs donated by a patriotic public to the Army saved the lives of a number of soldiers in combat. In October 1942, the US Army and “Dogs for Defense” came to San Carlos. The 178 acre site, at the top of today’s Club and Crestview Drives, which was locally known as the H and H Ranch, was selected to become the US Army War Dog Reception and Training Center.
