How we Convert Video to Digital – San Ramon

Since we use pro video equipment and have a wide range of machines, our video conversion quality is far better when compared to other companies as well as if you tried to do it yourself. Furthermore, we stabilize your video signal by running it through a TBC (time base corrector) utilizing S-Video lines which separates the luminance from chrominance (light from color). As a result, the edging of the detail in your video will be as clear as possible. Once the video digitized into our systems, we strengthen the audio levels and apply digital noise reduction so your videos will look and sound better than ever and will be there for generations to come!

We can convert VHS-C, Hi8, D8, 8mm, Betamax, DV, mini DV, DVCAM, 3/4″ Umatic SP, Betacam SP, HD, HDV and VHS!

FAQ:

What filetypes do you recommend for editing on my MAC or PC? We recommend and create Quicktime (.mov) Files for the MAC and AVI files for PC computers. The quality / resolution / compression is identical between AVI and Quicktime as they both utilize the DV Codec. These are just different wrappers that the operating systems prefer. Quicktime and AVI files are the industry standard for editing in iMovie, Final Cut, Adobe Premiere, Movie Maker, etc…

Can I watch these files on my TV? While it may be possible to watch them by hooking up your computer to the TV, these files are not really meant for viewing on a TV as they are relatively large uncompressed files meant for Editing on a computer. Although, you can compress these files into mp4 / h.264 files and view them on a Smart TV. If you would rather have us convert your videos and VHS to mp4 (h.264 codec) Click Here

Do you supply the Hard Drive or me? You can supply your own drive as long as there is enough room on it and it is an external USB hard drive formatted NTFS (Windows) or HFS+ (MAC). However, we cannot put these large files on a drive that is formatted FAT32. If you would like, we can sell you an external hard drive and format it properly so you don’t have to fuss with it 🙂  We typically stock a variety of Flash drives and external Hard Drives.

Can you convert a foreign PAL video tape? Yes we can. PAL conversion to NTSC (the american TV standard) costs an extra $10.

How many video tapes fit onto a Hard Drive? Approx 80 hours of video will fit on a 1 TB drive in the AVI or Quick Time file format.

How much space do I need on my flash drive or external hard drive for my videos? For AVI or Quicktime files, 1 hour will be about 12 GB and 2 hours will be 24 GB. Please be conscious of the amount of space you have on your hard drive.
